I just went out to Los Angeles with my Tern D8. I spent a few days riding around the USC campus and around the Coliseum. This was the first real chance to ride the folder, I had only put a few miles on it after purchasing it in March. I got the smaller travel case that requires some disassembly. The bike was snuggly fit the case, traveled well and I had a great time cruising around.

Thats great have fun with it, i enjoy my link c7 folder every time i ride it.

Thanks, and I got the noname mini case from you, it worked great and no problems with the airlines.

The bike will be great for the next few years when I go to visit my daughter at college. No more laying around a boring hotel room watching TV and getting fat eating. I will get fat eating and be able to burn some of the calories riding.

Can you give me more details on how you were able to travel on airlines with it? What mini-case did you use and what did you have to remove from the bike/was it easy? I'm looking into getting a 20" folding bike and the Tern D8 is near the top of my list.

The no name case was from Thorusa.com. I checked it as regular baggage on Southwest. Southwest considers a bicycle that fits in a standard size bag as luggage and does not charge for the bike. I removed the wheels and removed the derailleur from the frame. I also removed the rack and fenders, I did not take the fenders along. I am using spd pedals on the bike and removed the pedals and placed them in a plastic lunch bag and placed them in one of the pockets. this is a tight fit but do-able. I think that a brompton folds small but is 3 times more expensive. I may have to consider one in the future. The D8 packed in the case weighs less than the 50 lb limit, so I packed a bunch of clothes in the bag with the bike. I also place all the small parts and nuts and bolts in small plastic bag.

So, I am very satisfied with the bike and the case. I use it as my quick go to bike since I can keep it in the trunk of my car.
