Dahon customer service.
Over the years I have made numerous customer service requests regarding my photography equipment and have always received prompt response, sometimes the very same day. Over a week ago I emailed Dahon about one of their bikes, and up till now I haven't heard anything back. Not a very good sign as I see it. What is this company like to deal with when it comes to issues regarding any mechanical problems I have to ask myself. I don't want to cast a black shadow here, but it really isn't very professional on their part to take so long in replying. I checked to make sure I had their email address correct a couple of days ago and all is fine. Many of the companies I have asked information from have responded right away with an automatic message indicating that they have received my request and will reply within a certain time frame.
What is your thoughts about the company? Have any of you encountered issues, bad or good, with their customer service?
Cheers
Wayne

Case in point. My wife and I on the occasion pick up food from Panda Express. In all the years I have frequented a certain location I have never had an issue with them until last night. I addressed the issue this morning with their online customer service department and within the hour I had a personal response. Now that is what I call customer service, not what Dahon is providing. Actually, I can't even say that because so far they have not provided any CS.
Thanks for taking the time to help. I appreciate it.
Cheers

Absolutely!!!
I remember contacting Citizen regarding their models a short while ago, and they responded promptly and where very thorough with the explanations. I decided after to call them personally as I had other questions and was very impressed with their helpful knowledge about their bikes. That is what CS is all about.

Generic procedure on warrantee claims in the Bike Biz, they go back upstream from where you bought the bike...
ie, the Dealer .

Dahon has never had stellar customer service IMHO. Some of the dealers are better than others, but they only cushion the lack of service from Dahon. My pet peeve with them is the constant "churning" of parts where something becomes obsolete and unavailable in a matter of a year or two. I can give a multitude of examples of excellent customer service from a variety of companies, Dahon is not on that list. I trashed a wheel on my 15 year old Eagle Creek suitcase. I contacted them, they asked for a picture of the bag and the wheel. They responded in less than an hour with the part numbers I needed, about 15 minutes later I get another email asking where they can mail the parts at no charge. THAT is stellar customer service.

Thank you Hank. One of my questions was regarding their electric Icon model, and another was about one of their 16" wheeled bikes (Curve D3). My questions are taken care of now by diligent research calling dealers in my area. But that doesn't, by any means, let them off the hook. If they, or any other company for that matter, are concerned about their customers then they should take a personal interest and not expect others outside of their organization to take on that responsibility. If this is the way they conduct business, then I will not be dealing with them in the future. A good company, like Canon, Nikon, and even Citizen bikes do care about their customers and do the right things to make sure they are satisfied with the product and/or service they provide.
Cheers

Ok.... how many peeps working at the Dahon USA office ? Take a guess....
Dahon is a DEALER brand. You will need to contact a dealer. As a Dealer I make a committment to Dahon, I would not like somebody from the factory to mingle in my affairs/business.
You are comparing Dahon with Nikon Canon .... which are HUGE .... and than Citizen which sells direct, obviously they answer their emails, as they have sales stuff ....
By the way Dahon answers my emails within one working day usually, exceptions granted. Spare parts are available for current models and bikes 10 to 15 years past. Dealers can order these, and they dont even have to be a Dahon dealer.
The Icon electric models are not sold in the USA. Best upgrades are the Bionix system. Not cheap by any means, but not much more expensive as the Icon models would have been. It does have the advantage that there are spare parts, service available from Bionix and their dealers.
Whats the questions about the Curve D 3 ?

As many know, I purchased two folding bikes sold at Campingworld. They are not bad really, but I'm plagued with intermittent noise issues since day one. It has been addressed at my local bike shop by a mechanic I have know for awhile. Apparently its due to a low quality freewheel and derailleur. I discussed with him the option of changing it all out for a 3-speed hub and a chain tensioner so that I can keep the two speed option on the crank. Then I thought, why go to the expense of having this done when I can invest in a better quality bike that comes with a 3-speed hub. My question/concern is with the fact that the Curve D3 is a 16" wheel model and me at 6' 1" in height and weighing in at 204lbs, can I comfortably ride it?
Cheers Thor

By the way, thank you for the link. I checked out the link and a rider up to 220 lbs and 6' 2" in height. I guess it will work for me, but I am on the border line.

Wayne - I think that you are on the right track here. I am sure that you could sell your camping world bikes on craiglist. While you won't get what you paid, consider the difference money well spent to learn how much you enjoy riding small folders and have a better idea what meets your needs.
Cheers

to answer here .... yes Wayne you will fit on a Curve D 3 ..... it will "feel" small but will work well..... the only problem you have is that , as I said, it will "feel" small and hence always think that the bike is too small. But check out youtube and you will see some vids there from folks riding the bike which are more weight and taller as well.... maybe that gives you an idea ...
