Dahon Vitesse - loose handlepost

Hi, I have a Dahon Vitesse D7, of which I'm very fond. had it for about 3 months and use it for commuting, about 10 miles each day Mon-Fri.

Am really pleased with it, great ride and good at the uphill slog home each evening too.

What does bug me, though, is the recurring problem with the handlepost. Every couple of days it comes loose. There's no danger of it collapsing, it's just annoying to ride with it in that situation.

I took it back to my dealer, who said it does happen from time to time and that it can be easily fixed by loosening the plate with an allen key, tightening the nut and then tightening the plate again. He did it and it was fine for a while.
However, after another couple of days riding, it just happens again. I have fixed it myself several times now. It's a pain and a short-term fix.

I know central London is littered with potholes but I really don't think it should be working itself loose so easily and so often.
Any other users had similar experiences?
Thanks

I have the same issue with my Dahon Formula S18. Every few rides or so, I have to tighten up my post as well. I keep a narrow profile PARK 8mm wrench in my bag. It just takes a quick turn of that nut in the stem (like 30 degrees or so) and it's tight again. It doesn't take much movement of that nut to make things loose. I've thought about putting some Loctite on it but I've just gotten used to using the wrench.

Bikes: to many

there are millions of bikes ouit there where this doesnt happen
check you plastic block if it is broken .... get a new one
dont overtighten the plate .. otherwise your handlepost will not open again
use loctite on the adjustment screw and get it to proper tension and your handlepost will stay put
