Dahon luggage straps

I was at my LBS the other day and looked at the Dahon luggage straps. I saw a set on a new Dahon in the showroom and pulled on it to feel the tension. To my dismay, the strap didn't fully return to its original size, but stayed stretched. I did the same to the second to the three straps, and it didn't un-stretch either.

So was this a bad set of straps, or are all Dahon straps defective like this? Glad I didn't order any online...

the Dahon Straps have a square buckle .... and fit nicely in the biologic carriers ...
and usually they are not know to stretch ... maybe the bikes where in the sun and really really old ? Who knows ... in any way we sell them a lot and we havent heard anybody complaining about that.

Are you talking about the stretchy bungee type flat cords that are on the rear racks? I notice that too on my wife's Ciao, and the stretch has totally gone out of them, they are staying around 80 percent stretched, so they are flopping loosely on the rack. Too bad as the strap ends are molded plastic tabs that mates to the rack notches. I've had to replace with standard bungee cords that do not look as nice, but holds better.
