Teach me how to use the Search function.

Can someone explain how to get results using the Search function? I enter a word, click the button and I get a list of threads none of which have any reference to the term I put in the Search box. I.e. entered “Kentucky” which I know exists in at least a few posts. No joy.
Thanks

"Search" works poorly. "Advanced Search" works great.

Click on Search, then click on Advanced Search and, on the Advanced Search page, fill in text boxes and click on drop-down-menu choices as needed.

Advanced search works better than normal search, but I still find the best results from using Google and adding bikeforums.net to the search.

Google is good for many non-specific searches, but sometimes I want, e.g., to reread a post from a particular BF poster on some topic, so I type a couple of keywords in one text box and the user name in another and quickly find it.

Glad you got that addressed. I don’t know why they can’t “fix” search but once you know to use advanced search you are golden.

Advanced search does work well. But sometimes takes too much to set up the options. If you specify the website you wish to search, then google is a little less time keying in stuff. Just put site:bikeforums.net after your search terms.

For example... how to use the search function site:bikeforums.net

I think other search engines also will use the operator term site:. But I didn't double check before stating this.

IME usually "site", as you say, sometimes "host" depending on the search engine.
