This is the aluminum plate as picked up. About six inches long and one inch wide so plenty of room to work the metal into the correct shape.

From the same bin but way more used and rustified. The attaching plates have been worn to the point that nothing fits correctly. I could send the pieces out for re-plating but would be a big expense with no real improvement in working or value.

The plates must have detached and the parts were secured with a bolt from the inside. Pretty sketchy but it might work if you can't get another band. It is in the spare parts bin now.

The next home of the BOC. A climate controlled storage facility in my car port. It should feel right at home amongst the new friends in colorful cans and dark shaded bottles. It may even encounter Hondo trying to get at the new friends while he is smoking some chicken.

Seat post meets Mr. 3M buffing wheel that I normally use to refinish bottoms and faces of Titanium driver heads. It is a bit aggressive and does remove about one thousandth of an inch from the outer surface of the aluminum.

Upper section looks like it survived a train wreck. Damage from either vise or hammer to the pivot posts for the lower rails.

Seat post as sent from CO listed as pretty rough. You can see the damage from dieletric brinnelling at the bottom.
