I have a nice, old wool British jersey ("Lutz") that has three pockets in the back and two in the front. Perhaps the question should be "why do modern jerseys only put pockets in one place?"

Anyway, wearing a "cycling jersey" without pockets (if such a thing could be found) is the same thing as wearing the typical jersey and just not using the pockets.
Again, there are always exceptions. Traditional track jerseys don't have any pockets.

Maybe, because the front pockets don't work very well. Maybe, because it's not considered "stylish". Maybe, because make it cheaper to manufacture. Maybe, because pockets in the back are good enough.

Yes, that's why I said "typical". It isn't very surprising that track jerseys don't have pockets. The track stuff is actually irrelevant to this thread anyway. The OP apparently wants pockets.

Nobody said "official." You keep injecting terms not otherwise present.

What is bizarre, again?

Listen, this is really simple: the OP wants a jersey with pockets on the front. Jerseys with front pockets are made. Can you put the rest together?

You keep missing the point over and over.

Even simpler. The OP doesn't have to use a jersey at all.

It's not as hard as you keep making it.

Bizarre.

Sure, the OP doesn't even have to wear a shirt. Or ride a bike for that matter.

How exactly is it hard to look for a different jersey as opposed to looking for a different shirt?

Again...what's "bizarre?"

That's you suggesting trucks.

No one is saying "it's hard". It's just, obviously, not a necessity (the point you keep missing).

It's likely he already owns shirts that he could use. No one is saying can't look for a different cycling jersey. It's possible that he has already tried.

Your weird obtuseness is not getting my obvious and not-controversial point: he's not limited to wearing things called "cycling jerseys".

A truck is a higher category vehicle relative to a car.

A shirt is a higher category item of clothing relative to a cycling jersey.

How did you miss that?

Right, you keep saying that, over and over. You want the OP to wear a shirt. The problem is, the OPs inquiry was never "what gives with cycling jerseys" it is "what gives with the pockets on cycling jerseys." A distinction you seem to have not grasped yet. Is it possible that he has already tried out other jerseys/shirts? Sure, but again the context is not the jersey itself, it is the pockets on the jersey. Reread that a few times.

I have acknowledged your argument repeatedly and tried to point out that - again - the issue is not with the jersey, it is with the pockets. I'm really not sure I could reiterate that any other way for you.

Nobody said your argument was controversial, nor did anyone claim it was not obvious. You're making stuff up again.

Just do the "farmer's blow" and shoot some snot to the side. Then wipe with your glove. Done! Just be careful when someone's directly behind you or you're passing someone on the same side...

It's kind of obvious that it's the pockets.

Err. No, I don't care what the OP does. Your idea that I do is all in your head.

Farmer blow. Best wait to do it until you rotate to the back of the paceline.
