When I used to ride only a few miles a day but then took a cross-country tour (LA to Canada; LA to NYC; Iowa to Key West...) I'd get terribly sore the first few days, then adjust to it.
Now I ride about 5K/year just around town and have switched to a noseless saddle, which I find more comfortable.
