can't get strava to upload from app to pc
I have been using map my ride free edition which I'm pretty satisfied with. Strava though seems to be the app of choice for cycling.
I believe you can use it to link up with other riders in your area?
Anyway, i installed the app on my iphone 5s which is still going strong, and opened a profile using facebook.
I have tried to fool around with the settings but can't get it to upload the data to the pc.
I did some searches and tried a couple of solutions but none are working for me.
Any ideas?

Apologies if my comments sound pedantic as I try to figure things out. I have the Android version, so some things might be different, but basic functionality should be the same.
I assume you pressed record in the app, did your ride, and at the end pressed the checkered flag to finish it. At that point a screen should have popped up to allows you to enter a name and comments for your activity. On android you can then scroll down on the the same screen and press the 'save activity'. Did things go wrong after you pressed the 'save activity' button, or you never had the chance to reach that point?
Also found someone mention this for iPhone recording issues:
Settings / General / Privacy / Location Services / Strava
The default position is that the app is allowed to use location services when you are "using it", this means if the screen goes off then it stop recording. If you choose"Allow location access" to "Always" then you are in business and it works.

hehe I had the opposite experience. After I lost data for 3 rides with MMR from the app crashing, or only recording half the ride, I switched to strava. Had no issues in the past 6 months so I'm sticking around.
I don't know if you can specifically compare avg speed over different rides and routes, but it does makes it really easy to compare your stats over time for a certain segment.
Something else I noticed... To explore segments in an activity, make sure your window is fairly wide. This will cause the elevation profile to 'stick' to the top of the window as you scroll down through the segment list. When your mouse pointer hovers over a segment, it will be highlighted in the elevation profile. If you click a segment and open the segment details, it will stay highlighted as you scroll down. Click again to close it.
In your profile preferences you can change the profile results popup to default to 'My Results' rather than comprehensive lists.
