Trolls - Do They Visit Bike Shops in Person?

There are many threads on the efficacy, attitude, pricing and knowledge of the typical LBS operator. There are many comments/posts regarding whether one or the other of us is trolling with a post.

What think you? Do trolls visit the LBS in person? How many of the little bells or chimes ringing on the LBS front door actually signal the arrival of a troll?

Have you waited for a sales associate or a mech because their time was being occupied by a troll?

There are two uses for a pedal wrench, one is removing and installing pedals, the other.....

Yeah, they definitely exist. I haven't worked in a shop for a decade now, but I still live in fear of "Hey, y'all got the nut for the positron shifter?"

They exhist. I watch in agony as some guy ripped into my LBS owner over using metric wrenches. Of all the dumbass things to ***** about. The man refused to use metric wrenches on his bike and was chewing up his wheel nuts with a 9/16ths, instead of a 15mm, and was pissed he couldn't find an English nut to fit the axle.

Ha ha! good one...if he uses the 9/16ths he'll have to come back once the thing is stripped. Sounds like job security to me!

the worst I saw was a guy who refused to buy anyhting not american made, calling the other customers who had foreign parts fascist, then proceeded to rant about all this blah blah, then once the shop owner brought him some american made parts, he started whining about hte price since they costed more than the made in taiwan parts, and claimed it was a giant left wing conspiracy...

I was half tempted to talk to him in a martian voice.. "take me to your dealer!"...seriously, that guy had to be on something....however once he left everyone in the shop was practically rolling over it.

The Park is good, but the one you really want to use is the Pedro's Equalizer.

If I only could find a pic of Park's frame alignment tool. The big one with the seratted edge that looks like a beefy grain sickle.

Get her. But I think she can be taken pretty easily. And I mean that in the nicest way.

I don't mean to but I troll my lbs from time to time. I have an old bike and like to tinker with stuff like halfstep and so on so I go in and ask for things like 51 tooth chainwheels or close ratio, high tooth count cassettes and freewheels(like a 14-28), or the latest was a clamp on bottom bracket cable guide. (Nobody, not even the really old shops, around here have clamp on cable guides. GRRR)
I let real customers cut in though and never haggle over the price.

Haggling haha. We walked into a computer store once and my friend wanted to haggle on the price of some computer components. I was like ok I don't know you. Rofl.
