Made in Canada Miyata

So I recently bought a bike, and it was an old Miyata. It is labelled as a Miyata 521, and it says it made in canada. Does anyone have any info on this bike, and did Miyata ever make bikes in Canada?

Possibly. Canada has some pretty restrictive bicycle import restrictions. An alien bicycle manufacturer would contract a Canadian bicycle manufacturer to build their particular flavor of bicycle. I have a 1974 Raleigh Sprite manufactured in Canada by Procycle, eh. Procycle has produced ORYX, MIKADO, BALFA, ENERGY, CCM, Velo Sport and Peugeot bicycles but had since discontinued them. By 2002, 31 years after the first production, Procycle produced its 7,000,000th bicycle in its factory in Saint-Georges. (Wikipedia)

Good luck in your quest, eh.

Generally when a bike says "made in Canada" That means that the manufacture used overseas factories to make the parts, ship parts to Canada, and then assemble here.

I know Peugeot did something of the sort, wouldn't surprise me if they weren't the only ones.
