I'm trying to get an alarm system for my cruiser bike, but don't know what or which one would be the best. Considering motorcycle systems too.

Do you have an alarm on your bike? if you do...

Which one is it and do you love it?

I was of the impression that the "alarm" system for a bike involved a lock, chain, and immovable object.....

I want to go a step further and add a hidden tracker chip or 2 and an audible alarm system for those quick in and out of a gas station stops. I know there are wheel locks that have alarms in it, there's also disk break locks with alarms in it... Just want to know what if any and who here uses such systems.

I was reading a post where someone was discussing using the little tracker chips. I think the end result of that one being they are only designed to work within a few feet and would basically be worthless to "find" a mobile object of this nature without luck.

I used to use a noise making device on my motorcycle. It was designed to work with the headset lock on the bike and would make a pretty loud audible.

According to where I am, I have NO issue bringing my bike in store with me. Might be a bit hard with that stretched rig you have going there.

Many years ago I read a test of motorcycle alarm systems. In the article they made the point that with multiple motorcycles with multiple alarm systems, every time they swapped test bikes they were constantly setting the alarms off due to the different function and methods of using them.
During the whole test, they never had anyone ask them about the alarm or what they were up to or if that was their bike.
I'd say they are a waste of money.

Is Lo-jack small and light enough for a bike?

tracker might be the way to go but there could be problems

alarm goes off, guy rides off with the bike as the alarm is going off, will anyone try to stop the person, doubtful

bike gets stolen, you track it, what next? Go to the home and take it back? Could be dangerous

Any way to cover it with home owners insurance? Bike gets stolen, file your claim and buy another bike

I read Bob's post several times. I didn't detect any racist comments. I don't understand the purpose of his post, but then I don't always understand everything someone says or does. I sort of got the point that maybe he doesn't care for the style of the pictured bike. Ok, that might mean he's a bike snob, or maybe not. I'm not sure but I don't see how that makes him or his comments racist. FWIW, I don't know the guy at all. And you say your user name is Spanish? That is not obvious to me, either. Only one last thing: if you ride a bike, you're ok in my book. I like bikes with round wheels.

Home owners insurance on a bike would be too expensive, as waiting for your bike to be stolen could take years.. Having payed a monthly premium for your bike for several years, you could have saved many K's and bought yourself 3 new bikes with that money. Am I wrong..?
