So I've been riding on and off for about a couple of years, nothing too hard just general seaside routes as I suffer with sciatica so can't do so much trails. But I got to a point where I was riding 31.4 miles in about 2hours and just wondered if that was good as I can't compare it and wanna see if its possible to do better?

From my perspective, 15mph sustained over 2 hours is really good. But then again, there's no such thing as flat ground around here either.

It's faster than I go on average.

You're doing great. Keep going.

If you want to go faster there are many ways to get there. A time-honored and proven way to get faster is to ride with faster riders.

If you get back in time to finish, you're doing OK. If you want to compare yourself to others, do an organized ride.

I measure in smiles per hour, so I cannot comment on the rate of travel.

Bikes: more than my wife can keep track of

if you keep riding you will, by nature, get faster. 2 hours of consistent activity is nothing but great for your health. keep riding and it is always fun to join a group ride, just find one that fits your needs. check with a local bike shop and they can usually recommend a few rides you may like.

someone famous said something like; it doesn't get easier you just get faster.

Its the sciatica that concerns me for you. What you don't want to happen is to have it become a chronic condition. Treat it now to let you continue riding for a long time. There might be some compromises but that's better than no riding.
