- that's the truth! just came back from a ride through an alligator-infested park... the only reason i ride through there is that the path winds through a canopy of shade for several miles... but it was HOT and HUMID! (those folks wheeling their baby carriages would think twice about using that path if they knew those logs by the side of the path aren't logs!)

- nothing beats a nice bike jersey to keep cool in 90F+ heat and humidity...

- my biggest problem was finding stuff in my size... an on-line trip to Mt. Borah solved that conundrum as it seems most bike clothing manufacturers make attire more suitable to anorexics... (OK, i'm working on losing weight so XLs will fit...)

- for me:

1. bike shoes for road (Specialized 05 Sonoma 2) and MTB (Sixsixone Launch)... no clipless pedals yet, but the shoes make a BIG difference... half-clips used on road bike

2. Mt. Borah jerseys (3XL)... only blue and 'don't-hit-me' neon yellow colors for us fat boyz unfortunately

3. Cannondale XXL inserts, Mt. Borah 3XL, Canari XXL shorts (inserts seem to be a good way to go for the transition to bike shorts)

- there certainly is an interesting spectrum of bicyclists down here though... saw a guy today on a MTB humping a fully loaded, 2'x2' insulated soft cooler on his back in 92-degree heat in the sun (hope he had some cool drinks in there)...

It never occured to me that bike shoes would make a difference on regular pedals. I'll consider it. Right now I wear hiking boots or my paddock boots for longer rides. The are stiffer and sturdier than my sandals or sneakers.

I will get a cycling jersey - cotton t-shirts take forever to dry in humid weather.
