Brand new bike?

I wouldn't expect a brand new bike to have such a cosmetic defect. If I were to see two otherwise identical bikes, one with the misaligned badge and now without for the same price, I'd pick the good one every time.

In the real world, The dealer rep would allow a warranty discount for that bike. When I was in the business, that would have been about a $25.00 or $30.00 allowance. Some customers would prefer to pay full price for the perfect one. I'd personally jump at the discounted one with the misaligned badge. Then I'd gently pry off that badge with a small screwdriver clean up the badge and head tube, put a dab of 3M on the back and pop it back on straight.

As a dealer, by the way, I'd never fix it. I'd save that as a closer for the "right" customer who is looking for a deal.

Hell yes it would bother me

Is this bike a Bianchi? I don't see any Celeste, the companies trademark color.

Warm it with a blow dryer and saw it off with dental floss.

See post #28 , there's a splash of celeste in there.

It's the same paint as on p19 of the 2000 Bianchi catalog; the seatpost has "06 99" stamped on it; I'm guessing that makes this bike a 1999 model year.

On a related note: Found a Saab head badge while riding some months ago and stuck it on tool board above workbench. Really bored one evening and carefully shaped the flat badge around a pipe until it fit the headtube of my Raleigh. Now pedaling a Saab around town. So no, the slight misalignment of the badge on an Italian bike sounds about right - make that correct. BTW, my daily rider is a 12-year old Bianchi.

Just saying....

...crooktify your Bianchi head badge, or face the wrath of Bianchi, Bianchi, Bianchi, Bianchi, Bianchi, Bianchi....

Fate is not to be tempted.

gives personality to bike

My first thought would be, is the crooked badge I can see, an indication of poor quality of bike or construction faults, that I can't see. If it is a high quality bike I woold leave it because it looks like a hastle to remove, fix the paint and cleanly reattach it. Also, the crooked badge sets the bike apart (like the leaning tower of pizza) and gives the bike personalty. Kind of like a shelter rescue dog.

It would have bothered me. However fixing it would have made the mismatched upper and lower headset races even more obvious.

At least your Bianchi has a badge and not a decal..

Again, this headset is how it comes from the factory, see p19 of the 2000 Bianchi catalog.

My 2000 M Alloy Pro has exactly the same as this 1999 Lite Alloy.

I would have left it alone, and if someone noticed it you tell them they're stoned.
