My reading comprehension is just fine. I am getting tire of you all's false accusation you can not back up. It is not right there. The remark I made about Patronizing was to that fella "livedarklions." The guy who started this whole Race Baiting thing Highjacking my whole discussion into meaningless territory. Not you. So explain yourself if you can. You say you posed the question. Then you should have no trouble restating it. Restate the question and I will address it because your statement makes no sense because it was addressed to "livedarklions" the Race Baiter.

The OP did not project on to others from his incident or generalize or repeat stereotypical BS about anybody who was not a direct participant in the incident.
Let us expand on the proper way to report bicycling incidents on BF.
If for example, I/you/someone posted "Three white middle-aged dudes wearing cowboy hats and tattoos a pickup truck threw beer cans at me and called me vulgar names" or "A suburban soccer mom in an SUV cut me off and called me vulgar names as she blew the horn at me."
What would you bet that the upstanding citizens of BF would NOT get immediately bent out of shape and hijack the thread with moralizing about the irrelevance of specifying, the race, age, or appearance of the perpetrators, or the type of vehicle etc.?
There are numerous posts on BF that include ranting all sorts of derogatory and insulting generalizations and stereotypes concerning the mental processes and anti-social behavior of pickup truck drivers, SUV drivers, soccer moms, non-urban residents and almost anybody who uses a motor vehicle instead of, or in the vicinity of bicyclists.
Don't recall seeing much instant heartburn of the PC types over such posts.

However, Ultimately when you ONLY state race in a bad experience you're further pushing that race as Bad. And therefore making people like you even more scared of that race. Y'know why you don't recall it? Because the closest I've ever seen to that sort of identification on these forums is people saying derogatory things about the drivers of pickup trucks, and as I recall, a whole bunch of people went all kinds of crazy about cultural stereotyping. And I'm pretty sure those complaints weren't from the people YOU would describe as "PC types."

what to do now is one thing. what to do next time is another. I'd report it to the police
when I see suspicious punks on a remote trail like that I speed up & stare them down. 230 lbs, plus bike, traveling at approx 26 mph, is nothing to mess with. as I get closer, I pick a line to avoid them, but narrow trails don't offer much room. in the past they have always let me by. if they move to block me, I'm taking one or more of them down with me & then we're gonna play. hard. I also carry bear spray
if were you, I would avoid that trail for a cpl weeks until those punks get into other trouble
oh, and turning around & passing the same punks again was a mistake

It it is an up and back bike path. The only way to get back. Can't ride on Hayne Blvd. You would get killed.

I was just painting an accurate picture of what happened to put it into context. There was absolutely no Racial intent. That is what happened. That is who did it. That is not Racist. Those are facts. Now if I would have made a derogatory reference you and everyone else would have a point. But I did not. I stated the facts. I fear no one. But sitting there trying to decide when the level rose to the point you pull the trigger was a pain in the rear.

It has never once crossed my mind that I might be assaulted on a bike path, or that I should have to carry a weapon. Or, that because there is some video of a guy shooting someone a few years ago, crime is "out of control". To me, that all just seems insane.

I felt the same until a friend was threatened by a guy with a gun. And, then this same perp shot and killed someone. For those who ask , "But what are the chances?" I ask..."do you buy lottery tickets?" When I was involved in developing tests for recruits to the CT State Police Academy there was a thing called the "critical incident." You might be a State Trooper for 30 years and never draw your firearm but it you had to you better know when it was appropriate and what to do. I never carried until this came close to home.

Crime, including violent crime has been going down throughout the U.S. for the last twenty years. I carry Pepper Spray, but mostly for dogs. I will only carry a gun if I have to ride into, or near the city for whatever reason. It is not very often. I avoid bad areas, and bad people like the plague, but bad things do happen in good areas.
