The bikes vary from brand to brand. I got to test ride an "Urban Arrow" once.

I thought it actually felt a bit twitchy. I'm not quite sure why. But, it felt like I was constantly over-correcting.

One thing I wondered is if it was due to handlebars being much wider than I was used to.

Otherwise it rode nice. The version I had was electric. And, for my cadence, I think I was pretty much maxing out the gearing when running it at the lowest possible power setting (mostly empty).

It lists the bike weight at about 51 kilos, and a max weight of 275 kilos. That should give one a cargo capacity of 200 to 300 lbs, I think.

Some of the smaller cheaper bikes have abysmal cargo ratings.

Bikes: Trek Emonda SLR, Sram eTap, Zipp 303

In Manhattan there are all sorts of bikes use to transport packages, groceries and make deliveries.

I saw one with a 5' long self supported trailer. They make a lot of sense in urban areas.

Might be better off with a regular bike & trailer. That looks heavy & cumbersome.

Maybe because the handle bars are a mile away from the front wheel. seems like it would take a bit getting used to.

Classic Bakfiets. Apparently they've been around for decades, just took a while to arrive in the US. Several of them have appeared in Madison, and I think there's a shop that carries them.

Ironically, it's probably because there wasn't enough weight in the front. Long John bikes handle better when they're loaded down.

I think there's a Cargo Bike sub forum the OP can go to check out other similar bikes.

Edit to add: that looks like a Larry vs. Harry Bullitt bike. I haven't ridden one of those, but I assume they're relatively light, being made of aluminum, compared to steel bakfiets bikes.
