Unless they contain a link or a picture, posts by new forum members aren't reviewed.

If they are "treating us like a search engine", then they'll quickly go away. It's not like their posts are preventing others from submitting more meaningful (from your point of view) posts. And there aren't so many posts that the "meaningful" ones get buried. Perhaps you consider this forum to be a "community", whereas I do not. It is a source of information and entertainment, and has changed my mind on occasion, but I don't get a sense that I know anyone in this forum from reading characters on a screen.
The posts were deleted. So you are commenting without the full story. If someone wants to post fine, but if they are saying "post 2" "post 3, I know I am spamming but I want to post pictures" that is a problem. Besides if you just have a question Google is way easier you don't need to set up a dang account.

Sad you don't see this as a community, I guess your loss to a point. C'est la vie.

We've drifted quite far away from the topic at hand. So, it is time to close this thread now.

People left out the important question as to if an 80s bike can make the 100 miles, does it have 80s tires? Even if the bike has been hanging in perfect conditions the whole time tires dry out and don't work as well over time, make sure you have good if not new ones before doing a 100 miles. If uncertain then replace tires and tubes and you'll be good for thousands of miles.

I think everyone just assumed the tires weren't from the 80's haha

I worked in several shops over 15 years, people would bring in bikes with these dry rotted husks of tires and wonder why they don't hold air. Even the rim strip would be rotted to the tube. I never assume anything with anyone who has to ask a question like the OP's.
