All liquor and most wine sales in PA are controlled by the state and take place at state-owned stores. Those stores were, in fact, closed for a good while due to COVID. Those supermarkets in the area that are licensed to sell wine often had trouble stocking shelves and adopted purchase limits to prevent hoarding. Fortunately, I often had to go to nearby NJ for work, so I could stop on the way home and pick up wine.

I Imagine that Liquor stores were considered essential (they were in Indiana) because a bunch of drunks with the DTs hitting the emergency rooms as well as their wives/girlfriends would have been bad. Also keeping the locked down masses juiced on booze probably helped settle them down. I enjoyed hitting the trails and having to dodge far less people.

And I don't see the OPs point but hope bikes dont get "much more expensive" as I am thinking about buying one next year.

A propos to the OP, my wife and are today into our 30th consecutive day with no alcohol. I'm not advocating for this for anyone else here. For us, it may well become a permanent life change. Enjoying the clarity in my thinking, and the general better looking and feeling aspects of it. I wonder how much money we'll wind up not spending on alcohol should we live another 30 years...

I like to ride my bike, too.
