I have exact same mirror and I would rate it as an excellent product. I don't really understand what OP is complaining about

RoadWearier 03-20-23 07:52 PM

Do mirrors come with one of those flags you put in the back of the bike?

I'm just kidding. I guess whatever keeps you safez right?

the solution to the new design would be to find a duel purposed wrench containing both of each sizes. Might be possible to find that one piece of hardware with the old tool side head size.

I use the same mirror. I for one have neck problems and find a mirror very helpful.

Be honest, do you really care about the topic, or did you just want to type "screw" a bunch of times?

Actually, I am the one that wanted to type screw, skrew, squerw, ScReW, a bunch of times. There, now I feel so much better, but please in the future keep your perps straight. :twitchy:

dedhed 03-20-23 08:57 PM

I blame big allen wrench

gotta set those askew, straight.

Nothing to contribute, except that a mechanic in a shop I ran insisted on calling it a "Mirri-cycle." Drove me crazy.

Daniel4 03-21-23 07:52 PM

There's probably a business case to justify the change that doesn't seem obvious to end users. Unless you write directly to them and ask, you may never know what that reason is.

Now, compare it with the kitchen garbage bin that you install inside the door under the sink. Every one I had purchased whether for myself or my rental properties had the mounting tabs broken. Now there's an improvement that should have been done if ever there was one. But over the course of 30+ years, those bins keep selling so there's never a business case to invest on improving it.

Engineers are smarter.
Change is good.
You needed it anyway.
Life goes on.

Well, both are very nice to have on a recumbent. The only time I had either a mirror or a flag was when I was riding a tadpole recumbent for a few months. I wouldn't ride one without a mirror or flag.

To finally and directly answer the question: Why, Why, Why not?

Too late.

PeteHski 03-22-23 05:04 AM

It actually irritates me when stuff comes supplied with Allen keys. I just toss them straight in the bin (re-cycling of course, where they will no doubt end up in some landfill regardless). Do they really think people don't have simple Allen keys? pfffff.

I have tossed so many that came with IKEA furniture.

RoadWearier 03-22-23 12:43 PM

Plus they are so soft they end up rounding off the Allen head after about 3 uses. Garbage.

It seems ridiculous to you and me. But there really are plenty of hamfisted if not clueless people out there that maybe own nothing more than a couple of screwdrivers and a hammer.

It's always a concern when someone's toolbox consists entirely of different sized hammers.

Most likely, there's a blowtorch and possibly a plumbing wrench in there too.

Unnecessary roughness. 15 yard penalty, do not repeat the down.
