The "yawn" may or may not have been predictable. But, it was definitely the right response.

Yes. Yours was.

And what happened to all your posts between 2011 and 2023?

Have been busy with more rewarding things in life… but now I seem to be warming up to bike cult… we shall see how long it (or I) last. ;)

Looking at your post count, you seem to be quite ‘invested.’

But in case of bicycles, the origin of the term must be mostly to do with a greatly exaggerated sense of self-importance… or possibly a delusional justification to blow 8 grand on a bicycle. ;)

Maybe the ;) indicates that you're being facetious. I'm not quite sure. If you're not, it truly puzzles me that anyone would come to this kind of conclusion.

No harm in having a little fun, or is there! ;)
I thought I made is abundantly clear but the cult thing is funnier than I thought. :)

I smell malodorous footwear.

Don't we all.

If a malodorous shoe is lost in a forest, does it smell?

Wear flip-flops or upgrade to sandles.

I would like to say it's an extreme exaggeration, but I've seen bikes that look a lot like this.

There’s hardly room to place hands around the middle of the handlebar.
When I buy a used bike, all the junk comes off on the first day!

And now that you've cracked that door open, for some reason I can't explain, I wince every time I read about somebody's wheels having x hubs laced to Y rims.

To "lace up a wheel" sounds pretty old-timey, but I heard it all the time. My dad used to say it, so my grandfather probably said it, too (but he had Parkinsons when I was a kid, and I couldn't understand him). Technically, the word is appropriate, as you are drawing something -- a spoke -- through an eyelet -- a spoke hole.

Me [arriving after school got out]: Hi Dad.
Dad: Lace up that rear wheel, the customer's coming in at 4 to pick it up.

Other than brake/shift controls, the only handlebar-mounted accessory on my road bike is a computer.. On my gravel bike, I have a computer and a bell. My MTB gets a computer, a bell, and left-side levers for dropper post and fork lock-out.

I still lace-up my new wheels, usually 2-cross 32H… learned from my father to achieve even tension by the sound. Once I bought the device to actually measure spoke tension, it surprised me to note that with good quality spokes, how close you get to achieve equal tension by the sound.

..the Savile Row Bespoke Association takes issue with your generalization, but agrees in principle regarding use in describing bicycles.

It just needs more bar, or these bars need more stuff.

Is this pipe insulation they are using? Looks comfortable as long as it does not move/slide.

Some kind of crap on Amazon.
