Body Proportions

Hey guys, any universal standard for the proportion of your legs to your torso, palms to feet or whatever?

I personally feel that my legs are a lot longer than other people, even than some who are taller than me. However, my torso is a little bit smaller than the other people.

All i know is that your foot is basically the same size as your forearm (from your elbow to your wrist). I don't know any other proportions. It actually works i just did, my foot is just a tad longer than my forearm.

I feel the opposite ... my legs are kind of short for my height. I have a 34" inseam and I'm 6'4".

Stor Mand, that's really out of proportions. That is so short for your legs, really envious you have such a long torso. It seems like too much, are you really that sure?

Anyway, I'm 173 cm tall, and have a inseam of 81 cm. My torso is rather short, my face is long. Sternum notch is 142 cm, that makes my torso only 61 cm.

There was a study done by harvard MEd. that says that the body as a proportionign of 1 to 1.125. this goes with the whole body. Example : The hight of one to his waist we will say is 2', then the rest of this person is 2' 3". They found that some of the most beutiful people where all just perfict proportioned.

I am not understanding what you write, sorry.

Your use of 2' means to me two feet, but it obviously means something different to you.

Are you saying that if you waist is 2' (two feet or 24 inches) then your height is 2' 3", or 27 inches? That would be one short dude with one big waist, who would surely roll easier than walk.

Help me out here, and who was the Harvard MEd, and where can I read the report.

Thanks.

Will try and find the artical, there was also a show on TLC a bit back that talked about this.

Now say that a person standing 4' 3" the inorder for there body to be proportioned properly, then from there feet to the waist si 2 feet and then from the waist to the top of the head will be 1.125 of the original, making that section 2 feet 3 inches.

Thats the same as myself and I feel my legs are perfect in length. In fact I have always found them a little long. Not compared to a lot of skinny tall people but when compared to the athletes I used to compete against my legs were fine.

Now my arms. They are long.

Personally, I am sick of "standards" for physical beauty, and I am grateful that we are a diverse, interesting, individualistic species, in contrast to the plants in a modern monoculture cornfield.

there actually is what's called a "golden ratio" that's found all over the body. generally "beautiful" people meet that ratio in all the right spots. there was a feature on this on The Learning Channel a while back.

Either you're Sasquatch or I'm an Orangutan. My forearms are about 3 inches longer than my feet.

For you, I'm going with Orangutan . I had to check and my foot is the length of my forearm. I do not have extraordinarily large feet either - size 12.

My legs are the perfect length.

They go from my butt directly to my ankles. What more could you ask of your legs? My arms also go from my shoulder to my wrist, which matches their function perfectly.

All the rest of the discussion is absolute bunk. Who cares?

That's unbelievable because my arms and legs do ther same. Who woulda' thought ...

It may be bunk but it's interesting how people view themselves. It's also interesting how some of us are half & half, long torsoed or long legged. The human body is very interesting.
