This is what AI is telling me

I got the Roval Terra CL on my Checkpoint and was ready to order another set for my Roubaix. The Terra CL are $1500 CND and the Light Bicycle WR35 Disc are $1381.

AI is giving an edge to Light Bicycle "Light Bicycle WR35 with DT Swiss 350 is a better value purely on price-performance" even with the $200 shipping not shown here.

Light Bicycle build.

Will AI compensate you when their advice turns out wrong?

What’s wrong? Here’s a chart for reference. And LB offering 15% off in 5 days for their 14th Anniversary Sale. Only negative appears to be I cut out my LBS on the sale.

If they use real DT Swiss hubs.

If they are actually built well.

If they will actually honor any warranty issues. And if they do - how easy is the process?

If they are not assploding China bombs.

Dollar for dollar, give me the Rovals any day of the week.

OH, and AI is telling me that the OP is an AI BOT.

ok never mind. Price is $200 cheaper with the Light Bicycle Pace-Hubs which AI says are as good or better as the DT Swiss. At $1168 less the 10% discount in 5 days they are worth the risk

I tend to use my natural intelligence to make decisions...But for you, artificial intelligence is probably the safer bet.

This is from the Googles AI bots:
AI Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents both significant opportunities and potential risks. It can enhance efficiency and innovation, automate tasks, and improve healthcare. However, it also raises concerns about job displacement, ethical biases, and data privacy. Ultimately, the impact of AI depends on how it's developed and used

yes. But not having used Light Bike one must rely on a collaboration of testimonials and information about the company gathered online and with AI

LB appears to have a good reputation and offer excellent value.

If only there were some prior discussion of the topic, like this 59 page thread:

Light Bicycle Wheels

Why not do a little bit of reading before posting all of the noise?

Umm. I googled. I AI’d it and I formuned it.

the triumvirate. One thread is only a piece of the puzzle.

There’s some conflicting info but it definitely leans towards LB having better value, performance and quality.

Forgoing the LBS is only sticking point. He won’t be happy when I bring the bike for year end maint.

In some ways, it is probably for the better that the 59 page Light Bicycles Wheels thread isn't contaminated by your "contributions." It is currently a very useful resource.

FWIW, my wife's wheelset has been perfectly good.

I have never used AI for figuring out if I want that product or trust the reviews. I use AI to help write (mainly spell checking but that is sort of ubiquitous now) and for fun but I don't need it to tell me to buy a product if I think it is a good product I will buy it and if it is a lesser known product with little info on it to where I need AI to make something up for me I will probably skip it.

Natural intelligence is more important than anything artificial.

I knew a guy who ran a LBS a few years ago, who had a customer that asked him if he would work on his new bike if he bought it online. The LBS owner punched him in the face, knocking him down. I'm guessing the LBS owner didn't like the question.

You can choose to support your LBS or not, but if you don't, it may not be there when you need it. You can quote AI all you want, but economics are still going to be economics.

Worries like this have run rampant since the days of the Performance catalog and before, and there was no internet to consult. You had to speak with real humans to be misinformed.

Their new Pace hubs are really the only sticking point. Significant savings including an additional 5% off for LB 14th Anniversary sale. Most info indicates they will be as good as the DT but some info suggests they are stupid loud.

Loud hubs are like rolling coal. Obnoxious.
