Nothing new, it's human nature to judge one another by outward appearance it happens everywhere but I think that cycling culture is the most judgemental of all. Cyclists are like a bunch of teenagers on a school playground picking on somebody just because that somebody isn't keeping up with the latest fashion trends.

I have done many types of rides in many different states over the past couple decades, and have never – ever – seen any cyclist pick on any other cyclist for what they are wearing, or riding, etc. Absolutely never.

I am sure there are a few blips here and there of vain idiots who do that but it always amazes me on a bike forum how much hate there is towards cyclists from supposed cyclists? I might dislike a bike or a part or whatever but cyclists are fine and the ones that aren't are in the end just humans and humans are garbage but sometimes people throw away a perfectly good eclair and it's right on top...

With 36 years in one road club and 6 in another, riding with hundreds of riders and mixing in with other clubs on the road and doing many events with thousands of riders, I have never seen that. Has this actually happened to you?

Given that you impute motive to actions you claim to observe, and given the pejorative nature of the term you use for other riders, I think it's safe to suggest that you suffer from confirmation bias. We see a lot of this in posters who feel the need to distinguish themselves from the mass of other cyclists.

At some point I’ll invest in a helmet cam to document my observational data.

Trying to capture the moment where they give you The Look, before droping the hamer and dialing it up to 400w?

I have a guilty pleasure of passing lances in the road on my motorcycle and hammering down right next to them.
Maybe I need to get some kit and lead their group on my klr

Welcome stranger. You come in here and swiftly declare that all people serious about biking are clowns.
You can show yourself the door if you like. Cause if you stay, you are either declaring that you are a troll or that you think you actually have something to learn from the clowns.
