Probably the biggest obstacle in doing an all US made bike is the chain. Making an accurate and reliable chain at a cost anyone would be willing to pay isn't easy. Very possible. But it would take money and commitment simply to make a KMC level chain and I'm betting the break-even retail price at the start would have to be $100 each. Making stuff like chains is where the US made it's mark 100+ years ago but who wants to make that investment now to make something as sexy (yeah, right) as a dirty bicycle chain.
