I am not justifying knockoffs, to be clear. I am explaining the fundamental difference and that it can result in something that is a uniquely different product. It may look similar to the real product, but it performs differently.
This isn't applicable to all knockoffs, but it is for a lot.

Anyways, I am actually posting because I want to get your take on Rockbros products that aren't knockoffs. The brand produces a lot of their own design products...are those acceptable, or are they fruit of the poisonous tree?
I think in some cases people don't know, RB isn't going to advertise their products are stolen because that is not good for business and someone might not know where to get bikes and bike products. I hear from people all the time who just didn't know. They saw something at wally-mart or something and just got it.

I think a company known for stealing designs and IP is very much a fruit of a poisonous tree, I think if they want to make and design their own products great and if their product is of good quality they should lead with that and not steal. I would steal a loaf of bread to feed my family I wouldn't take that bread and try and recreate it and resell it as a different product that is "my own". If you can make a good quality product that is of your own design why would you need to be thieves as well it highly undercuts your legit business and work

Rockbros sell roughly 1 million items. Most of them are fairly generic things like lights and bags. Which ones are you accusing them of being knock-offs now?

Various pedals, bags and other accessories. Sorry you couldn't figure that out. It is only in the name.

I have a choo choo train in my room that doesn't go as fast but I had to make it and not the Chinese. Did you know in China they call Chinese food, food and they also have a big wall but their choo choo train doesn't go on the wall.
Thanks, needed the laugh.

Not the first time either.

Having done as much warranty work as I have I see the differences between quality and not. The good ones wanted their stuff back to figure out the issues and solve it for next time, the cheap stuff usually was a toss and we will just send new ones because of course sending it back and having someone actually look at it and solve what happened and pay for R+D to not have that problem for the future.

Everyone has problems, humans are imperfect and humans are behind everything being made in the world however the good humans know that yes they can make mistakes and would rather solve them than just replace parts over and over. Also generally a company like Cane Creek has a lot fewer problems, yes they had a problem here but that is probably not a common one.

I know there are a lot of CC fakes as well, how do I know I have seen them and talked to them about it. The eeBrakes are commonly faked by Alibaba and his 40 thieves and I can imagine other things from them being faked as well so it is also possible you didn't buy from an authorized dealer given your history.
I don't think your point of view is completely correct. In China, most sellers don't ask consumers to send back the defective products for inspection because the freight cost of that part is very high, even exceeding the value of the products themselves. Most sellers in China hope that their products can be affordable while maintaining the product quality! Please understand, dear friend!
