Can’t turn right

Hi guys,

weird thing happened today. I rode by bike into work, and after getting on it midday it tried to buck me off when turning right. Just kind of seized up in the back. It was very weird, I got on and off of it a couple times and unsuccessfully tried to ride it before realizing that when turning the handlebars to the right, the brake cable is actuated and the back brakes engaged! Wtf!

Eventually when messing with it (all looked fine nothing catching cable…) I heard a “pop” and now it seems to work fine. Before the pop the brake felt kind of sticky.:. new phenomenon. The bike got rained on and it’s a cheap drop bar bike so maybe it’s more finnicky than other cheap bikes? I thought it was possessed and loudly announced “what the **** is wrong with the bike” when it started displaying symptoms which was kind of embarrassing because some dude walked up behind me right as I yelled that frustrated lols.

anyone else have a corroded cable feel like a ghost? Bike seems fine now but I’m sideeying it…

Three lefts make a right. I see no problem here.

If it fixed itself, don't worry. It's not worth the supposing. If it happens again, and repeatedly, then that might be worth the supposing and bickering that goes on in a thread here.

LOL. Every time I drive to my brother's in NJ, and get to all the jug handle lefts, I say "Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do, but not here"....

I can't make anything out from that bike photo taken with a Cybil Shepherd lens, but what the OP describes (besides a right turn exiting the dispensary) is a brake cable housing that is too short climbing off it's hanger or stop, and then popping back in.

This happens to some people in Daytona a few times a year, but it clears up after a 500 mile test ride

Have you considered satanic possession?

You, not the bike.

I wonder if Larry can go to the supermarket and stand in front of the bacon cold case and ask to be saved. Didn't his bike turn into a shark and bite his leg recently? That's gotta be Satanic...
"The power of Christ commands you!"

"And when He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men confronted Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.And they cried out, saying, “What business do You have with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding at a distance from them. And the demons begged Him, saying, “If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” And He said to them, “Go!” And they came out and went into the pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters. And the herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they pleaded with Him to leave their region."

In the old days it was not unknown for a non-aero brake cable that was a bit too long to get looped over the front reflector bracket, so perhaps your bike is experiencing a wave of nostalgia.
