I've quoted David Gordon Wilson a few times on these Forums. Each and every time there is a huge chorus of proclamations this author does not know WTF he is talking about. Being an emeritus professor at MIT and Cambridge does not count. Being the world record holder for miles on an epicyclic hub does not count. Being the founder of the International Human Powered vehicle Association does not count. Having an internet opinion does count.

Did you even read the rest of his qualifications? Is it possible that adding the distance record information was to show that not only was he a respected engineer but a real rider? Was your post merely to cast doubt on Wilson? It sure feels like it.

Er... you watch a youtube channel that uses typical intro slides with someone's facial expressions and arrows (!). I mean, I myself watch EEVblog channel that often include Dave's face on the slide (he's a bit weird and apparently doesn't know better). But arrows! There's literally a prominent red arrow explicitly present in the intro slide of the video you posted! Who in their right mind would watch this kind of slop?
We do fully understand how a bicycle works. A clickbait title above an obvious youtube clickbait video is far from enough to serve as evidence to the contrary
