flight deck computer or Cateye CD300dw

I am looking at putting one of these on my Trek 5200. Any comments/suggestions? I want cadence and easy to read and operate.

I don't know anything about the Cateye, but I love my Flight Deck.

Dunno about you but I think virtual cadence on the Flight Deck is bogus. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

I've read up on that. It seems ok. It is just math, you tell it your wheel size and gearing and it knows the MPH/KPH. THe rest is math solving for the unknown.

I have the Cateye - 2 actually - and love it. No problems. I do not know anything about the Flight deck.

You might want to look at this one also. For just a few dollars more have Heart rate as well.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

I've got a couple of Flight Decks. Actually, mine are the original version that uses both buttons on the right hood. I like it fine on my single road bike and it's just super on my tandem.

I used to use Cateyes and I'm sure not going to say anything bad about them. I was never enamored with the cadence wire running down the down tube, but I never had any problems with it either. Considering how long I've kept my Flight Decks I feel like they've been worth the extra cost.

I use a flight deck on my road bike. For some reason it is backwards for the rear cassette, shows the 12 as the 25 and the 25 as the 12. There is only one way to install, so don't know why this would happen.. Needless to say, the virtual cadence is not right. I bought a Blackburn Delphi 4.0 for my new tourer, it has wired cadence and wireless speed/distance, for $59. Used only twice so far, is a little complicated cpmpared to the flight deck. I dp like the flight deck, though.

I believe that there is a setting on the Flight Deck for using a Rapid-Rise derailleur, perhaps that is the problem.

It is in the setup. I did the same thing. See my previous thread for the solution.
