POSITIVE experiences with cycling-related businesses

I really like Nault's Cyclery in Manchester, NH.
https://www.naultsbikeshop.com/
They staff is helpful and the prices are reasonable. The store manager, Dave, is especially, super, extremely, very, very helpful. I recently upgraded my old mountain bike and consutled with Dave a lot. He was very patient and very helpful. Also, he buys a lot of clearance bike parts (Bontrager, Shimano, etc.) and I was able to get some parts (cranks, wheels, etc.) at really good prices. I bought a nice brandname brand-new, crankset from them for 20-something bucks.
Plus, since it's NH, there is no sales tax. I've met folks in their store from MA who purchase their bikes there because of the good prices and no sales tax.

Stu and his staff are fantastic. He helped my build my bike around my Soma frame (which I am loving!). And they've been nothing but more than helpful with the minor tweaks and adjustments we've had to do. Most recently, he's going to replace my rear rim and upgrade it due to an unknown cause of an impact it received during my regular commute and has caused it to already go out of tru twice. He's personally unhappy with it because it's not meeting my needs as a rider. Amazing.

My LBS is fantastic. I took my bike in for spring tune up and got it back that afternoon. They are also very good at getting stuff for me that they don't have in stock. Great customer service. I keep going back. They even assembled a new bike I bought on Ebay with out any grumblings.

NiteRider fixed my broken MiNewt light for free (no questions asked, really) and got it back to me in less than two weeks. NiteRider's customer service rocks!

The new online business: sellyourbike.com.au/, I havent actually sold my bike yet, but when I email them for help, they got back to me in like 30mins! this is normally the problem with most online businesses...they lack the personal touch.
All-in-all a very POSITIVE experience!

Two great LBSs around here (and one I have had nothing but horrible experiences with).
The two awesome LBSs are:
Kopp's Cycle- The owner, Charlie, is a great guy. They've been in the business for a very long time. The selection isn't huge, but 1) everything they carry is quality, 2) Their shop and customer service is top notch. And Charlie is an excellent fitter (is that a word?).
Knapp's Cyclery- Great selection of mostly Specialized equipment. Awesome show-room. Nice selection of clothing, accessories, etc.. And Pete, the owner, is GREAT. They have a very good shop, excellent customer service, and everyone in the shop is very welcoming. The entire staff is very welcoming and friendly. Like Kopp's they do a great job with fittings.
The bad shop doesn't belong in this thread, and wont be mentioned (and to be honest, I haven't stepped foot in there in 5 years now, so they may have changed, but I'll never know)...

Montgomery Cyclery in West Chester is a great lbs. My bike is not an expensive one, but I had a wreck and need to get my bike repaired. They didn't pressure me into expensive components and treated me like a valued customer.

Hey everyone! No one mentioned https://www.jensonusa.com/ great site, tho I haven't visited any of the others mentioned for a comparison. Huge selection, quick to ship, and they haven't messed up an order yet.
No one has mentioned https://www.ecyclingstore.com/index.php. They have awesome prices on their jerseys I want to buy like 40 of them (great selection too) but I can't find any information about them anywhere and I've had problems resulting from online purchases b4 (not jensonusa) so I'm wary about buying online from an unknown. Anyone have ANY experience with them?
I'd appreciate any information! thanks peeps

I have kudos for Topeak. I lost the pedal wrench attachment and the chain breaker screw for my Alien multi-tool. I inquired on their website about replacements and cost. I received notification yesterday that the parts have been put in the mail free of charge. Small probably inexpensive parts, but good service nonetheless.

Rage Cycles in Scottsdale Az.
They gave me a good price on a Surly Cross-Check Complete and even swapped the stem to a 90mm Salsa, and tires to 28mm Michelin Citys for free. He even did the build himself.
Cool little bike shop. Seems like they're in to it, y'know? They get my next bike purchase barring me ordering the Jury from Bike Island.

My local bike shop "The Bike Gallery" in Beaverton Oregon does a fantastic job of rebuilding wheels for me when needed. I ride a recumbent tricycle and have odd sized wheels and knowing that "The Bike Gallery" builds wheels is a great help.
Maybe not bike related per se, however, "Class At Paint and Powder" did a great job in repowder coating my trike when I rebuilt it last October:

BikesDirect kicks ass! Simple to order, quick to ship, accurate and honest representation of product, and the best attention to customer feedback ever! Every question I have posted about their products has been answered timely and thoroughly and with pictures! You can't beat a company that listens to its' customers and develops its' product line to cater specifically to their desires!!
Bikes Direct rules, and I'm sending everyone I know to them. My local bike shops will be pissed, but they can't come close to offering the same customer satisfaction or service. Which is a sad statement considering the huge difference from brick and mortar to virtual sales and support.
But the LBS's still get the emergency, instant gratification, and maintenance and repair business from all of the BD sales, so I feel it works out in everyone's favor all around!
My LBS's agree that seeing more people on bikes and seeing a dealer out there who can cater to the masses so effectively with products at great price points in all categories is an incredible thing, and it actually increases their own business a ton!
Kudos to BikesDirect!

For Spokane, you can't go wrong with either Two Wheel Transit or North Division, the two best shops in town. Following close behind, though I rarely shop there, is Wheelsport with several stores. REI does a good job as well, but with their bike techs doubling as ski techs in the winter, well, I'm not fond of them going for double duty so I don't get "serious" work done there.
And Garmin has been good to me. My Edge 305 had troubles, twice. They provided a refurbished unit at no cost each time, long after warranty had expired. Of course, there were plenty of documented troubles others were having that were just like mine, the second time at least. Still, they could have blown me off.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
My most recent experience with Capitol Hill Bikes where goods changed hands was a couple weeks ago. I came in, and Chris goes, "Hey, I've got a present for you, wait right there." I joke, okay, what are you going to try to sell me this time? (he normally throws sales pitches my way, but it's never truly serious -- "Dude, you want to buy those Zipps, trust me.." )
Anyway, he comes back with a pair of Crank Bros. Quattro pedals. "We found your pedals, so here they are. Merry Christmas, or something like that," as he said with a grin.
What had happened was, earlier this spring, I took them my pedals to see if they could be warrantied. They figured they would, so they sent them off to CB and gave me some extra Eggbeaters they had sitting around. A few weeks went by, and I asked if there had been any updates, but they said that they hadn't heard anything. I'm pretty patient about things (especially since they gave me other pedals in the meantime), and after a couple months more, I asked again, and Chris went to do some digging around to find out what had happened. A couple days later, I stop by, and he goes, "I think we actually lost your pedals. Maybe the RA# wasn't attached or something, I don't know. So, I'm going to order a new set for you and just eat the cost myself." Ok, cool -- so a couple weeks later, I had new pedals, and I've been riding them ever since.
Those pedals that he recently handed to me, then, were the original pair that I had, except that they had been rebuilt good as new by CB. One way or another, they did make it back to the shop.
So, now, I've got two sets of Quattros and a set of Eggbeaters for the "price" of one pair of Quattros.

Gears Bike Shop (Mississauga [just outside Toronto], Ontario Canada)
https://www.gearsbikeshop.com/
Bought my first bike from this shop within the last two months. Very helpful staff, didnt force anything on me, gave me great advice and spent tons of time with me, even before I bought the bike. I have been back twice to get a few accessories, and they have always been very helpful and considerate (since this is my first bike, I didnt really know much about bikes, even though I did some research before I went in)

Xootr. They sent me a Swift folder with a misaligned seat tube. When I contacted them, they sent me a new complete bike, with spare parts, at no charge, and covered shipping for both the new bike and for returning the old bike.
The guy I spoke with, Brian, was very helpful and seems to be a head guy over there.

My preferred LBS here in Burlington, Vermont is Old Spokes Home https://www.oldspokeshome.com. These folks believe in the bicycle-centered lifestyle--bikes for everyday transport, touring, recreation, exploration. And style too--they've got quite a collection of vintage bikes scattered around the shop. Not the kind of place you'd expect racing weenies to frequent, just sensible bike enthusiasts.
Recently, I converted my MTB to an icebike which involved installing a new rigid fork, fenders, tires, and various other things. It being the slow time of year, they invited me to set everything up in the shop. I jumped at it, the alternative being working in my cold and crowded garage between the snow blower and the bike trailer. I got to play bike mechanic for a while, using all their great tools, and with all those random little nuts and bolts right there on hand. Whenever I confronted the limits of my mechanical abilities, someone was right there to help me work through it. Now that's customer service!

Richard's in Garden Grove CA.
Backstory: a friend decided I needed spare tires and tubes for Radagast the Beige-and-Black and got me two of each for Xmess. Richard's is close to where she works. We took them back for store credit.
I took Orion (the gift from Beanz and Gina) there for saddle adjustment, rear rack installation, tail light installation, and handlebar stem extension. Dropped it off last Saturday. They said it'd be ready Monday. Well, there was no way I'd be able to pick it up for a week, so don't rush. They said it'd be ready anyway. Okay. It so happened I was able to stop by Friday (because of a temporary schedule change at work). It wasn't ready; Richard's dad had been hospitalized and had surgery (and, happily, is doing much better, they told me today). But Richard said he'd stay late and have it ready Saturday (today).
He called while I was on my way to the weekly breakfast with my BFFs.
And told me he wouldn't be charging me for any of the labor, because he'd promised me he'd have the work done and hadn't been able to do that.
Wow!!!!!!

Machka, thanks for starting this thread. There's far too much vendor bashing going on here.
click-stand.com - When one of their products broke (my fault, not that of the product) I mentioned it in a ride report here. A few days later, repalcements showed up from the manufacturer in my mailbox, unasked for.
The Touring Store - Impeccable honesty and service. Once talked me out of making a purchase, pointing out I could use a cheap adapter to get my old rack to fit to my new bike.
