You can get alot more out of your bike than just short rides around town for excersise. If you're truly bored with just going out for excersise, use your bike for a real purpose.

If you're bike was a less expensive $400 roadie, 10 to 1 says it already has eyelets for racks and panniers. Just put a rack on it with some grocery pannier bags from Performance bike, and use that puppy for riding around town and shopping etc. Heck, get some lights/blinkies, and commute to work with it.

Use it. Don't waste it.

It would be worth much more if you, like "hunched over it". In fact if you hunched over it once or twice a day you might not be so keen to get rid of it.

If the issue really is boredom and a lack of roads, running will not be an answer either.
It seems asking the bike shop instead of BF would provide an answer to the OP question quickly. Someone with knowledge of what questions to ask to set up a blaze seems to make more sense. (In light of all of that, no one forced you to purchase the machine, why should the owners of the LBS take a hit for your immaturity? Most Bike shops will honor your request and take the hit, because they are kind. A good opportunity to learn from.)
