Bikeforums TdF Challenge
Alright, in view of receiving a couple of requests, it's here! Bikeforums TdF challenge. There are two aspects of this one. The first is to see how many miles/km we can ride from July 5 to July 27 (i.e. the duration of the tour).
The second is to ride the 3,427.5km/2,125 mile distance of the tour. Given that we are mere mortals on this forum, this challenge will allow until October 27 to complete that one (although I'm sure there are people here who will have it done much sooner than that!).
This is a 100% honesty system, so use a computer and record those distances accurately!
Oh yeah, if anyone actually manages to ride the 3,427.5km distance from July 5-27, they win a no expenses paid holiday in Murwillumbah!
P.S. You can view a map of the route here.

Is it possible for me to just post my Odometer reading on July 5th, then post the next reading on July 27th, and another when I've finished all the 3,427.5km of Le Tour? Should take me about 3.5 months. Maybe more maybe less.

Yes great idea, but same questions as on other occasions:
Do we register? Do we post progressive totals (daily, weekly, as we feel like it)?... Here on BFs? Elsewhere (preferably not)? Any restrictions? And the old perennial, do indoor trainer miles count?
Now, how do I enter in the circumference code on my Cateye again?... just so I can tweak the setting a little to a smaller number... oh, oh... right, h-o-n-e-s-t-y. I forget already.

And yes, commute miles do count.

Oh yeah, and I'd prefer not to receive any urine samples in the mail, but thanks all the same.

Do I get bonus points if I ride into work in my bright pink 2001 ONCE kit (it was cheap, and drivers notice you...)?

BTW Viper, Murwillumbah is located in the Tweed Valley in Northern NSW, Australia. It is the social, political, cultural and economic hub of the universe - except that the rest of the universe doesn't know it yet!
The challenge started yesterday for those of us down under - I scored a rare duck due to non-cycling commitments. I had a cold today and felt like crap, but still managed 136km. First century of the challenge this coming Saturday.

284km/176.5 miles so far - and I've done it all with a cold. I'll have an easy day tomorrow (just my 26km commute) and start to pick things up a little this weekend.
