A few years back, I rode in the Bicycle Tour of Colorado with a recently retired urologist. His attitude about his former patients was pretty interesting - he said that 90+% of them were fat, lazy, couch potatoes, and smokers.

He had very little respect for them when they would ask him to prescribe the "little blue pills", because their d*ck issues were caused by the fact that they were all d*ckheads with respect to their lifestyle choices.

He wished he could just tell them to turn off N-Ass-Car on the TV, and get their fat lazy butts out the door...unfortunately, insurance rules and medical ethics prevented him from delivering the "right" prescription.

Sex & Saddles: What is the problem? What is the fix? presentation onliine

Presentation "Sex and Saddles: What is the problem? What is the fix?" by Steven Schrader, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health on Serotta's site LINK.

NIOSH (and the Center for Disease Control) got interested in this because of bicycling police officers. Can show effects in both men and women.

I don't have any problems in the ol' flagpole department, but I do find a lot of saddles uncomfortable (perhaps my arse is a weird shape). I get on really well with saddles by the manufacturer Selle - they are wide, with no mid-section at all, so you sit properly on your "sit bones". Very comfortable. I'm not a "hardcore" cyclist of the kind who thinks that if you have a well padded saddle you're a poof! I'm quite happy with my poofy saddle!

.

If you're really worried about it, just spend a few seconds pedalling "out of the saddle" every so often to let the blood flow.

But yeah, I think most of these "studies" involve subjects that have just ridden 210km and need a while to recover before they can "perform". I'd suggest that someone who just ran a marathon would have the same problem.

Same with me. I have an EasySeat, which gets me strange looks, but it is comfortable.
