Bikes for the Mrs. and I
I am in need of advice....My wife and i currently have two old bikes that we use for riding around on the week nights and weekends. We are also going to start to commuting to work. My commute is 5 miles and hers is about 1 mile. 95% of our riding will be in town. We are going to replace them, the question is with what? I have been doing my research and have come to these choices...........
Trek 7.2
Giant FCR 3
Scott P5
Specialized Globe (for her) Globe sport (me)
I know there are tons of questions like this, but i would really appreciate the input.
OOOO i want to spend max of $550 per bike, just in case there are other choices i have missed.
Thanks so much..

Test ride them all, choose the bike that fits each of you best.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.
My advice is to shop for a bike shop first.
Check out as many as you can. When you find the "right" people you'll know it. Buy a brand they carry and you'll never go wrong.

She has a old Huffy. I bet the is a forbidden word around here... I have a Raleigh M50, it is very small and worn out. I have been to my LBS(specialized, Raleigh, bianchi, and diamondback). I am very loyal to the local small business. After doing all the research i am leaning towards the Globe(sport). My only hesitation is, I have not found many user reviews for the bike. I just like to hear what others have to say.
Thanks for the input.

If she is comfortable on her Huffy and it functions properly, go ahead and use it. A 1 mile commute is hardly a commute on bicycle. You can walk that.
Specialized is a good company that makes good bikes. The Globe will suit your needs, ask your LBS to take it for a test ride. If it fits you, slap some fenders and a rack on it, and go.

Unfortunately if i could get away with me just getting a bike and having her use what she has then, let me tell you what.... I WOULD. If we were only going to commute then it my be considered. We have both test rode the globe and do like it. I think that my decision is pretty much made up unless someone has a bad story about them... i doubt that.. I do appreciate the help.
Thanks so much..
