I've bought three bikes from them in the past year, 2 for me and one for my GF. In general I received more than I expected in both products and service. I wish I could say the same about my experiences at my LBSs.

Bikes: mid 80s Ross Centaur converted to Alfine 11 09 motobecane imortal force, 83 Ross Paragon,81 Schwinn LeTour Tourist, 91 Paramount, 93 GT converted to city bike

Bikesdirect.com

I just got my Motobecane Imortal Force.
Bike arrived in a-1 condition.
I was pleased with the way almost everything was pre-assembled (although I did have the LBS set the bike up and check the lube in the BB etc. It was worth the $$)
About the only issue I had was they had changed out the sturdier (imho)American Classic Victory wheels for Ritchey Pro Vs and were unwilling to enve consider an exchange.
Definitely look at what is comming with the bike because componentry can and does change without much notice, and unless you log on and look up the current configuration of the bike you want you may get it with different components than you wanted.
Seats and Pedals are low end.
I will say: They were concerned with knowing how the bike arrived and did do a followup.
Down side; This is akin to the commercial with the couple doing their taxes with help from one of those store bought kits and he's stuck and she says; Why don't you ask the box for help.
If something goes south you best have a decent relationship with your LBS

Bikes: Trek 7.3 FX, old Haro(92)

hmm well looks like i know were my road bike will come from in a couple of years. Some nice parts listed for the price! the 105 crankset..carbon fork etc. for 656

https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...aquila_al8.htm

comparing prices with a Trek with same parts for 800 more..,,

i assume a bike shop would grease, adjust etc for a fee and your still way under a store bought

doh

Bikes: 06' Trek 7.5 FX, '09 Dawes Steel SST

I've purchased 2 bikes from them over the past 2 years. Both were positive experiences as I will be buying another one very soon. As stated from the other replies, know what it is your looking for & be prepared to do or pay someone to do the final bike assembly.
