Sigh, Although this is a very small miliage number compared to some (most) of the other mileage records posted i am proud becuse It was my first year riding.
From the begining of June (the day is got my bike) to the begining of October ( the day my bike got stolen) I obtained 850 miles.

base miles are my commute to work

Commuting helps a lot. On a good year I commute to work 4 times a month..that is 200 miles a month in and of itself. That is 2,400 miles annually.. Some years I commute on average, more than that.
My log said during 2002 I had 3 months with over 1,000 miles. Then each of the last 3 years I have had a bike tour.
My tours have been from about 400 to 900 miles.
Getting that kind of mileage is not that difficult if you commute and ride with a club... One member of my club suspects he has ridden over one million miles?? He is working on a 300 mile day? I work compressed days and have off more days per week than most.. When I am at home and my wife at work, I ride, ride , ride. She wishes I would do more yard work...

yard work? Does that have something to do with the jungle growing around the house?

About 1500 miles. Not a bad year for me, but I hope that 2004 will allow for more riding time. I finally finished school, so I will have more time to ride

Easy out here in California.

Prosody..An easy solution out here. It does not rain for possibly 9 months of the year. We live in what should be a desert. But usually a cool desert, if you live on the coast.
So just let your sprinker system go to hell...This past year I did..Don't have to cut what you don't water. Besides, why water weeds. I would rather ride than pull weeds anyday.
Hope I do not have a bad riding year....Just lately I had our sprinker system repaired..

Slightluy over 5,000 miles after riding on 12/31. 19 centuries all but one solo.

Doen from 8,200 last year as my job has me traveling and I only get to ride on weekends.

It was a good year considering the travel & all the rain we had in the east.

Skor...I would not think a hit would be great for co-ordination when on the bike.. I have heard reports of the wild area north of town called DeLuz being big on such substances. I ride through there, but stop- no...DeLuz Canyon is a hell of a work out. If one were to stop, and lose your determination, you would call it a day and have to camp in that valley. Like 3,000 feet of climbing over some really steep grades. The most challening rides in the county use Deluz as the county's most challenging ride........ As to mowing, etc.. I do mow, but beyond that- thank god for gardners..A once a month service. As to helping my wife with house work, that can be done at night; when, not out cycling...

Well, you have to neglect work around the house, mow grass in the dark (if at all), watch your wife roll her eyes frequently, have people look at you funny a lot (hey! they spend more time watching TV than I do riding... and they're worried about me?). Persistance and consistancy have been paying off, though, and I like it. 7800+ miles, ~450 hrs.

I surprised myself, I did actually break 3000 for the year, if you combine all my bikes, 3314.9 miles. Almost all commuting.

You have to withstand criticism...Had to swith around equiptment on the entertainment stand.. I heard three times from my wife..We are always up late doing this kind of thing, since you are never about the house to do what needs be done. Three times... All I say is that is how it is.. Until I can retire and then I might have a couple days free of the week.... But that is about 10 years away.
It does not faze me...It still got done...so what....

Bikes: See signature

Less than 250 I had hoped to get in about 500, but just couldn't pull it off. Got sick. Bad back flared up, etc. I haven't ridden, really ridden, since 1990, for many, many reasons. Had knee surgery in 2000, and I really didn't think I would be able to ride at all, so last summer I replaced the rotted (no kidding!) tires on my road bike and got back in the saddle to ride with my kids, just spinning low gears to see what I could tolerate, taking it R-E-A-L easy (out of fear, I suppose). Most of the miles I put in were to get the bike fit just right, to lessen knee strain, etc. I also picked up a cheapo Trek MTB which I plan to convert to a commuter, so some miles were spent setting it up.

2004 should be better. No set goals yet, but I should break 250 just commuting and goofing off with the kids, maybe a century or two in the late fall.... With luck, I'll get my wife back into cycling this year.

For 2003: 5731.25 miles.

I didn't ride from Thanksgiving to New Years. So I'm sure I would have reached 6K pretty easy or at least got very close. My goal for the year was 5000 mi. This year I'm shooting for 6200-6500mi.

Hey Julu.. Would you care to join my Active body cycle team....
You have just the mileage I`m looking for .
Its the Ukriders team, but I`m prepared to change it to the Commonwealthriders team just for you

My mileage for the year was 6,000 right on the button, My New Years eve ride ended at 5,999,so I continued on a couple of times round the block for the satisfaction of registering 6k...

shot for 2k but fell short due to many variables...1855. Still better than the 1200 of last year.
