Finally got around to posting my commuter. The pic isn't great, and the shadows make it look like I have twice as many spokes as there really are.

She's treated me well since ~1994.

Here's my 03' BigHit Comp.

The fenders are just becuase of the snow and crappy roads around here right now. They really work. ( I still try to avoid salty / sandy roads though... this town sucks).

Wish I could say that about my ex-wife :(

My Specialized Sirrus is cheaper than therapy, much more fun, and way more down-to-earth. Healthy too.

I did splurge on a few upgrades:
Bontrager Racelite wheels
Continental Grand Prix 3000 tires with Specialized ultralight tubes
Terry gel saddle with "love channel" ;)
Cateye Mity3 cyclocomputer
Not shown: AirStryke 2K aerobars that I bolt on for triathlons, Wheeee!

I have a Gary Fisher Mamba right now, my Specialized Hard Rock was stolen, but I got the Gary Fisher late summer of 2002. I was at the sporting goods store to "look at stuff" and next thing I was being fitted for the bike thanks to a nice mother.

I started with a "Liahona" brand bicycle (Special-build for Mormon Missionaries You can see them at http://www.liahonabike.com ) and added/swapped:
Brooks Saddle- comfort!

Busch & Miller S6 Dynamo and Lumatec headlamp (with standlight)

Alex DM24 wheels with Schwalbe Marathon XR tires (to replace the Continental Town & Country tires shown in the photo)

Front & rear Sherpa racks by Old Man Mountain - specially designed for use with disc brakes

Arkel bags all around (T-42's on the back, GT-30's up front and a handlebar bag, and Shimano Deore component set.

It weighs a ton, is comfortable to ride, and easily carries my considerable weight. . . 339 lbs and falling (started at 400) I've put several pieces of Scotchlite reflective tape to make myself more visible to vehicles. Anyway, a great ride, smooth as silk and tough as a Russian tank!

MageJack 01-24-03 12:14 PM

2002 Seven Axiom Ti, all Dura Ace except brake calipers (Ultegra), headset (Cane Creek), seat post (Thompson) and pedals (Speedplay). Velomax Orion wheelset. Et cetera.

1992 Kestrel SCi with all Ultegra except Campy Chorus headset and BB (the bike shop was out of the Shimano parts when I had to replace them). Spinergy Rev-X wheels when TT'ing, Open 4CD rims on Ultegra hubs otherwise.

1990 Trek 950 with LX/XT mix, added a Rockshok in '95.

1985 Peugoet Triathlon beast-of-a-bike with all original 105 stuff (loaner bike, thinking about converting for 'cross).
