If you are ever in Olney, IL., you'd better watch it....They have white squirrels there, and the folks go out of their way to house, feed and protect them. So if you would hit and kill one of the whites, you might get a ticket.

Then, I watched the squirrels in my back yard react to my dog. They didn't really move until she barked. She hasn't figured it out yet, but I started barking at squirrels and it works! They scoot off the street and up the nearest tree. Works with rabbits, too.

Next time I'm in the situation though, I will consider barking, though I'd rather not all the riders think I'm some kind of wolf...

Squirrels LOVE to play "tag". They just don't seem to understand what happens if the car wins. That zig-zag running they use works fine for cats, but their zig pattern is less than the width of a car, which just increases their chances of getting smooshed.

Hitting any animal sucks for you and them.. I have crashed trying to avoid a bobcat on time.. My top 2 would be missing hitting a cow in the middle of the road, he would have won easily.. The funny part it was during a road race and from the front of the peloton we here "COOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW" My friend and I look at each other and say COW... The pack parted like the Red sea around this cow standing in the middle of road..
My best would be another race in Little Tokyo - Los Angeles.. The announcer starts yelling over the PA "BLIND MAN ON THE COURSE"
Once again my friend and I look at each other and say blind man on the course and once again the pack parts like the Red Sea and fortunately no one was hurt..
My friends who watched the race said the "Blind Guy" stopped, kind of gave a look of where the hell did all the wind come from look and kept on walking across the street..

The driver was a squirrell! who said "Crossing the street isn't as easy at it looks, is it?"

From now on, I'm just gonna move in one direction and stay there, no more oscillation, leave that to the other party.
