Where the hell do you live?
I charge around $40. $100 to assemble a box bike? Wow.

You should learn, it's not all that difficult, and the skills will come handy on the road.

Ok, so Update, I will receive my bike on Tuesday for sure, and take it to a shop to have them put it together, I considered doing it myself, but I don't have any equipment, tools, or other resources to do it. I also have no idea about trueing the wheels, or making sure the gears/cables are in working order. It's a learning process.

I did place an order getting my first taste of spandex as well as some other things I'll need.

I've not bought from BD or ebay. Have owned LBS bikes. Knowing what I know now about bikes, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from BD or any good online reseller. Like everything else, LBS carries various levels of bike quality. If you are new to cycling, then LBS would be my recommendation.

Well I just got home from picking up my new bike, I rode it the whole way, I couldn't afford SPD shoes yet, so I did the next best thing, took the checkered vans all the way!!
The road conditions in the town of Tacoma, Wa are awful, I was afraid the sewer grates were going to swallow my tire whole, and many actually didn't have a cross bar and would. But I made it.

Being my first road bike, I didn't know what to expect, I'm surprised how much different the ride is from anything else I've ridden, I havn't gotten the hold of standing up and pedaling yet either. I also don't know how to make a left turn. New expensive bike, and fear of cars prevent that from happening.

I even got my first honker on my way how, a very chunky older lady with a few kids in the car, trying to shoo me to the sidewalk, clearly ignorant of laws, she wasn't even in the right hand lane. I just "smiled and waved".

I have a lot more time I have to put in before I'm truly comfortable rinding it, and me being out of shape doesn't help either.

All in all, I'm very excited to get out and ride, especially when I'm fully equipped. and I can't stop turning my head and admiring my new horse!

The seat was way too high for me too, but I rode it that way all the way home, and just adjusted it slightly so that the logo sticks out fully.

Question about Motobecane? I've read several posts that BD is the only distributor for MotoB. I was at Bike Discovery in Ftn Valley Ca. about a year ago (maybe a bit more) and saw a large selction of MotoB bikes. I did go back last week and saw they had only one on the floor. I didn't ask if they had more in stock so not sure if it was something left over.

SO this puzzles me, did MotoB stop dealing with the shops within the last couple years? Or is the info posted here inaccurate when stating only BD sells MotoB bikes? Maybe different from state to state?

I should have asked the shop dude if he still deals with MotoB....I did try to find the store site online to see if they advertise Motobecane, couldn't find the site.

Unfortuantly, I'm of no help to ya, I know nothing about the brand or bikesdirect. but I would suggest contacting them if you're curiosity suggests. You could just call.

You're right, and it was a pain, I took the scenic route home about 3-5 miles from the shop, but I made it with the saddle up, Fix as soon as I got home. my 5'11 235lbs frame can only handle so much lol.
