Indoor bike riding
Just wondering if its possible to buy something that would enable me to ride my bike indoords during the winter time. I'd like to sit the bike on something that would enable me to pedal and use my bike as a workout machine. Is this silly or possible?

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.
My wife and I took spinning classes three times per week all through last winter. The classes only last about 45 minutes but they are pretty intense. This spring we could both see a marked improvement in our fitness.

Go to your LBS and look at them and test ride one before buying. All trainers (styles and models) are not created equal.

Depending on your budget. Cycleops fluid trainer they cost $300 they are on sale often for $240. I have one going on for years now. It is very quite and it offers a progressive resistance. I have mine positioned facing my TV, I usally watch Tour de France highlights, Beijing Bicycle, Breaking Away, or The Bicycle Thief (1948 black and white Italian film) or anything else on my TIVO!

Cycleops fluid trainer ! It was a great purchase. I even brought it along with me on vacation. I have a setup in my basement with a TV during the winter, and I follow the training tapes, which helps make the time go by. Summer, I set it up on my deck or in the garage when I cannot get out. You can probably pick one up if you shop around for $250. I picked mine up last November at my LBS, and they matched an INTERNET price of $245.
