all american build?

would it be possible to build a bike out of US-Made parts?

I know there are some US bike makers, but they seem to use components from Italy, China,Japan, etc.

I do not have the money to do this now, but am curious if it could even be done.

it would be tough as most of the small items (cables, shifters, brakes, etc) are likely foreign made. i suppose there are some high dollar custom american made parts out there but really why bother

Bikes: 8

A fixie or single speed , perhaps, but no chains, spokes or tires.

Used to be some Boutique CNC derailleurs in the 80's.

.. to the WABAC machine ..

No, and it's been discussed here many times before. More of a components issue.

Bikes: Lots

It's interesting ... there have been numerous threads here and in the Road Forum about US-made bicycle. In fact, the wording in this thread is almost identical to one that showed up in the Road forum about a month ago. It seems to be a big deal to some people to have a US-made bicycle for some reason.

Why don't we see more threads about European-made bicycles, Taiwanese-made bicycles, Canadian-made bicycle, Australian-made bicycles or Japanese-made bicycles?

Probably because they are already a reality. US made bike? We've off shored so much of our manufacturing that it's hard to believe anything is made in the US anymore. If it was it'd probably be too expensive.
