Bikes: custom steel built at Naked Bicycles and Design in Western,Canada..Sam Whittingham

Not the eninem flick but the distance i had to walk yesterday with my bike....victim of the dreaded snake-bite.. ......The cool part was the number of bikers who stopped to help.
It was hopeless..the tear was too much to mend--the weather was nice and i took my time...walking in cleats was a tad painful but it was good pain.
I will carry extra tubes from now on.

For this reason alone, I have a whole bunch of duct tape wrapped around my pump. The duct tape can patch just about any bad rip if applied in several layers on the inside of the tire.

So it sounds like the tyre casing was all ripped up? That sucks. And it can be quite embarassing. One way to save yourself that and to also garner a little bit of pity is to take the punctured tyre off and drape it over your shoulder. Of course then you'll probably want to carry your bike because it's not a good idea to roll it on its bare rims.

I've never had much luck with the powerbar wrapper or dollar bill trick. I keep a small 3" section of an old tyre in my seatbag. Also, a few small strips of Mr Tuffy liners can work too. And if you have the liners already installed, you can overlap them one on top another and they're usually strong enough to keep the rip from spreading.

Bikes: Cannondale super V 500, Bianchi Piaggio(hopefully getting a new road bike when I get some money)

the tire is flattened hard against the inside of the rim. That makes two holes, one on each side of the tire. ta-da a snakebite. Atleast thats how I understand it.

The only way I have gotten a "snakebite" is when a nail went through both sides of my tire
