bike name

I notice a few posters have named their rides. The best I've seen so far is Stella. I think I should name mine now that I've broken it in, personalized it and come to love the way it (gender?) creaks with my movements, responds to my slightest thought and is always there for me in the morning. But what? Or should I wait a year and just call it "Ugly Thing" in case it gets taken from me, like all those Primitive cultures do with children?
What kind of names do your bikes have, and how did you name them?

Bikes: Bianchi Brava (fixed), Nishiki Prestige (fixed), Plum Vainqueur (track), Fuji Boulevard (Single-speed)

My Bianchi is Spencer and my Nishiki winter fixie is Harriet. I call my beater "the ugly bike" (and believe me, it is ugly). In my freshman year of college, my friends dubbed my sparkly green 3-speed "the **** bike", and they wrote a punk song about it.

That's how it's done at my house too.

My Giant OCR 1 is the "Red One," the Giant Sedona DX is the "White One." The wife's Giant is simply "Hers" or the "Blue One."

The grown up bike and the baby bike, the latter because it's too small for me, and I never should have bought it. The yet-to-be-bought tourer will have a Real Name, to be determined once she (he?) and I have bonded properly.

Road bike="Grunt" as in, I ride it every day, it does my grunt work. My mountain bike I usually call "My Baby", but it varies, as in, it has been acting up recently, so I call it "*******"

I just call my pair "The road bike" and "The mountain bike." However, the road bike definitely seems like a "Veronica," even if I don't call her/it that.

my gf calls my bike the "Lil Red Midget"...because it's a 24" boys bike....and my bike looks really tiny next to her 26" purple bike. i call hers the "Purple Freaking Grape". i've always ridden boys bikes. and i'm only 5'1'' so i cant ride a 26". i've never really liked women's frames nor the colors that women's bikes come in anyway. i had my choice between a metallic red boys bike and a hot pink women's bike. yuck...pink

Bikes: Homebuilt tourer/commuter, modified-beyond-recognition 1990 Trek 1100, reasonably stock 2002-ish Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo

My road bike is named Hephalocipede, because I think it's fast and I like the word hephalump, also I call it Heph for short. My commuter is named Elmer, like the cartoon character Elmer Fudd, because it's stodgy and silly looking, but reliable and endearing.

If I ever start my own bike company, the mountain bikes are going to be called MUD RHINO, and the road bikes are going to be called Mádrino. Our cross bike will be called "LudiCROSSpeed" and our high-end carbon fiber racer model will be called "Roadiculous." You read it here first

My bike's callled 'The lady'. I like it. Rolls off the tongue and I didn't have to think too hard about a fitting name for her.

Me and my girlfriend have our own bikes. So their names are "My Bike" (aka "the one that works") and "Your Bike" (aka "that POS you never ride"), respectively.
