"Yard Sale" tips?
I would like to organize a kind of yard sale event this summer at my house where anyone with a bike related thing can bring it and sale it. I live on an acreage so it would be fairly easy to have lots of people in one of the 2 acres portion of my land that is directly next to a passing road.
I need help on how to organize it tho. I have never done that before. I'm posting this ahead of time to have time to get ready for it.
Thanks for your help!

If it's going to be strictly bike related, I would contact any bike clubs in your area and tell them what you want to do.
You could also contact your local LBS and see if there's anything they might want to unload. You may be surprised at the responses you get.
You could turn it into a flea market if the authorities allow.
You will have to advertise well in advance to make sure you have a customer base. The clubs and LBS can help out with that.
Good luck and have fun.

Mountain Equipment Coop site has similar sales, you might browse through their website or contact them to find out how they run their sales ...

everyone should agree to take their leftovers home so you don't stuck with the lemons people will try to unload on you

That wouldn't bother me. I have lots of bike and wouldn't mind having more for free no matter what condition they are in.

Frankenbike, in Texas, is the same concept. I dont meant this as a condescending comment. Just a matter of fact so you could look into that.
From what I know, they hold it at bike shops and bicycle friendly bars. They have their locations "donated." Then people show up, set up, and leave. People come and go, etc. There is no charge for people to set up.

I would personally be responsible for all checked serial numbers on the bikes and have them run thru the National Bike Registry ahead of time, if I were going to initiate this round up. Any bike not registered, would not participate, unless they were children's bicycles.
Whether the registry gets back to you with clearance confirmation or not, at least you would have made a legal effort.

I will check the Frankenbike. Thanks. Does that cost anything to run the National bike registry? Wouldn't that be over killed to do it for Super Cycle, CCM bikes and such?
