Help Finding a bike that will fit

Hey i am new to the forum and I want to start cycling again. But unfortunately i am 6' 11" 220lbs with a 38-39" inseam making it pretty difficult to find a bike that will fit. I live in Florida and will use it mainly on-road to travel to the beaches, I am not looking for some $1500+ cycle I just want a somewhat durable bike that will fit me moderately comfortably and I'm on a tight budget so it has to be as cheap as possible, I know that this may be allot to ask, I just wanted to see what my options are. Thanks.

would this be a good choice? Or would it be too small?

The craigslist bike will be too small (I'm 6'4", and that's the size I ride), but for the money, and the riding you described, I'd probably buy it anyway. Used tall bikes are really rare, and on that one it looks like there's room to raise the seat, and the stem can come up a little, too. New seat posts and tall stems aren't cheap, but they are available (maybe $40? Haven't bought one in awhile) if you need them. Plan on new tires and a minor tune-up, which you can do yourself with basic tools

spend time in bike shops to find out what sizes work.. people there will help.

6'11" ! maybe some NBA guards have 2nd hand bikes to resell..
that tall off the peg bikes are not common.

good luck ..

The largest production bikes are about 23" frames. You will have to use an extended seatpost and maybe an extended stem but this is do-able and really, your only option.
Compare the geometry of the bikes (most website have geometry guides or you can measure the bike in the shop with a tape measure, you need a long frame with a long top tube and long chainstays.
Mongoose hybrids come in XL with a 45cm chainstay and 64.7cm top tube which is about the longest I can find.
36 spoke wheels are useful for the extra weight of tall riders but usually you get 32spoke.
Long cranks would be nice but the longest you will find are 175mm.

The bike styles to look for are hybrid, commuter, dual sport and also 29er MTB (MTB with large wheels).

Most bikes are available in 25"/64cm size, which is about what I ride (I'm 6-foot-4). Some older bikes were available in 27" frames- search the Classic & Vintage forum if you're interested. As Bob says, they're not common. Here's a picture of one: https://www.unc.edu/~cupery/pics/bikes/Schwinn_commuter/

If you get into riding, and scrape up the money, custom will get you anything. One of my friends is 6-foot-8 and rides a custom Bacchetta recumbent (they're in Florida, too). Then there's really custom: https://bikeportland.org/2011/07/11/b...e-region-56078

Dang unfortunately i didnt get to buy it, I am currently up in ga at college and i was going to pick it up on my way home for spring break next friday. I called him yesterday and he still had it so we agreed that if he still had it by then i would take it. The listing had been on there for a while so I thought it would be fine, but i guess someone else saw one of my thread about the bike and jumped on the bike before i could.

Wow. Not much detail in the ad, but it's certainly enthusiastic. I would guess that it's the equivalent of a '70's Schwinn Le Tour (Panasonic made Le Tours for Schwinn) which means it's decent for its time. Without seeing more detailed photos it's hard to put a price on it.

I'd say go for it and hope you don't need to put more that the usual wear 'n' tear items on it: Tires, tubes, cables, brake shoes and chain.

That's too bad you are that far. I have a 24" I'm trying to sell. I hope you get some luck in your area.
