saw a picture of the Pro teams, prepping for the Roubaix race ,
and one was using a compressor, sized like a rechargable battery powered
drill motor.

Get a compressor from sears. Fairly regularly, various models will be on sale for $99.99. they are a good deal and come with the craftsman guarantee. You can also keep your car tires up to snuff, which will save you more than the cost of the compressor in no time. bk

Lezyne is what I have. Very high quality and easy to pump, but a little expensive. It replaced a Joe Blow like yours that I had the same problem with.
