Blech

So I found this forum on the first day I bought a bike and couldn't make it three miles. Two bikes later and a few months later, and after training hard, I was to do my first big 165-mile charity ride this coming Friday and Saturday from Miami to Key West with a wonderful group of people and stays in Hawks Cay and in Key West. I've never been to Key West though I've lived in Florida for 16 years. Last night, I went to the team spaghetti dinner, got our jerseys, which I love and have been very excited. I even raised almost $1500. Well, today, I was participating in a carnival for work, and had been nominated for the dunk tank. First ball and down I go, injuring my arthritic ankle with a bad sprain and hairline fracture. I'm in a freaking cast, and will not be able to ride for a least a few weeks. I'm crushed, and am venting here because it's all I have right now, and the stupid pain is keeping me awake. I'm just so disappointed.

Sorry to hear that, hope you get better soon.
But at least you raised funds for charity and I'm
assuming you can try again for next year?

Sometimes you just can't get a break, unless it's the bad kind.
Hang in there.

Is there a chance you can get out there to the event and work as a volunteer at a checkpoint?

It would keep you involved in the event and perhaps follow it vicariously with the other participants.

This sounds like a great idea. You could even wear the jersey.

I hope you feel better soon.
