- airplane: Failure mode -> becomes a glider.
- helicopter: Failure mode -> becomes an auto-gyro.
- multiple small fans (ducted or unducted): failure mode -> becomes a rock.

No need for a a catastrophic malfunction, just the air turbulence from truck, buses or wind gust from between high rise buildings will send it to the ground or building side.
