The fact that the OP admits to eating Twinkies makes me like him a little.

Bikes: Many

I have considered using a trailer, or otherwise doing shopping on my bike, but I either have to cross a bridge on a sidewalk, or take a road past a sign that proclaims "Targeted Enforcement Area" which is right before the 35 mph speed limit sign where if I drive 45 I quickly get a line of cars impatiently waiting behind me... and no shoulder to get away from the speed demons.

I did buy where I did for recreational cycling, but if I ever move again, I will have to consider the ability to cycle to the store as a major factor in my decision.

PS - Right after I bought my house they raised the speed limit to 55 along the road I liked (which means people drive 65) on a 2 lane road, and added rumble strips to the middle of the shoulder.

PPS - Remember, chocolate mile has the ideal ratio of carbs and protein for a recovery drink...

I hate that! There are a few roads around here that would be great for riding but there is a little too much traffic and what would be a good sized riding shoulder was cut down to unusable with those stupid rumble strips.

Trailer will fit on the sidewalk pretty OK IF you are carrying stuff, not kids. Also, you can get like a BOB trailer or a single-wide kid trailer or a kid-trailer type trailer that is designed to haul cargo (I think OP's is one of those) that aren't so wide. Big saddle bags or baskets might work.

No sidewalks in my area... other than the one on the bridge, which I could ride across with a trailer, but I would have issues if I encountered anyone heading the other way on the 1/4 mile bridge and approaches.

A quarter mile huh? Other people huh? I know MY thoughts on that……. You might be nicer than me though (but that IS a long bridge).

How long do you find it to be OK to leave milk, and other perishable or frozen items, out like that before things start to go, well, bad?
If it isn't opened, regular pasteurized milk will stay good for hours, if not longer. UHT/Ultra-Pasturized milk stays good for weeks (you find it in the fridge section because that is where you would expect it). If it is a fermented milk product (yogurt, kefir, etc) it would be good for some days at least.
