Nice looking ride Gary. Watch out for the Toupe. I had to abandon mine for a Phenom because the tabs on the rear of the Toupe kept catching on the bottom of my shorts when getting back on the bike.
1.25 hours of cross riding tonight.

I will in a few hours...need route advice CLE/AKR area
Hey all,
Doing a short Labor Day tour on a LHT to visit a friend in Massillon, Ohio. I'm coming from Chagrin Falls - and once I get south of Hudson/Twinsburg, I'm in terra incognita.
Here's the route I have mapped out: Chagrin to Massillon
If any of you are from the area, could you shed some light on some of the roads going through Akron? I don't know the city very well. And I'd like to stay off of Massillon Road (241) as much as I can, but it's looking like I won't have much choice.
Thanks a bunch. Keep spinnin'

NW, I would suggest you post a seperate thread and title it "Chagrin to massillion any suggestions" I think you will get a better responce. I don't know that area well enough to comment.

Rode the mountain bike trails at Reagan Park in Medina OH for the first time.
I was pleasantly surprised, they are really fun.

35 hard miles today. North wind came up out of no where just as I made the turn north to head back home Beautiful blue skies and mid 70 temps made up for the head wind though

queit around the forums today I see. Well, we did something a little different today, rode with my wife's coach to work on her descending and cornering skills. Preping her for the Georgia ride that's coming soon (3 weeks to go). I think it helped both mentally and physically to have someone she trusts give her some pointers. BTW did 31 miles total.

09/05, 100.37 Miles
Finally got that 1st (imperial) century under my belt.
Started out just doing 20 or so to work off my hangover,
it just worked out that way, great day!
09/06, 35 Miles
Rode to my parents to do some chores for them.
Had my 1st bad crash 5 miles in. Futzing around trying
to get my right foot into the pedal (I'm still in toe clips) my front
wheel wandered into a large crack and I went down really hard.
Pretty bad road rash on my left knee and a good cut on my right hand.
Bike just has a little rash on the left brake lever, it's got some character now.
Cheers.

9/6 - 30 miles
Rode to Channahon this afternoon. Looked like for a time it might rain today but turned out to be a really nice day. Been really nice for over a week now.
Kdgrills, where did you lose control of your bike? On the road or on the trail? Hope you heal up fast.

cully, what I like to do is look at the predicted winds, then look at the winds over the last couple hours from our local airport and plot my ride to ride into the wind first and then turn and ride downwind back to my house. The only time this doesn't work is a true North wind (not much room between me and lake erie) or NE (most densliy populated direction)

101.7 miles....3,221 ft climbed.....5hr 10minutes ride time for a true average of 19.6mph. Did this ride with Leinad and his lovely wife as well as a few other new friends. Very nice route in, through and around Medina Ohio. I am definitely NOT a century rider but I felt pretty good on this one. Big props to Mrs Leinad.......she did awesome.

9/7 Medina bike club, "cheap century or ramble around medina" 103 miles, our group did it in 5:10 at 19.6. 7 riders garysol, me and the mrs, mike(new guy gary brought) Tim (from summit free wheelers), young gun (who I missed the name of), and guy that we affectionaly called tour de donut (don't ask). We did some sweet pacelines and kept the group together the whole day, which meant that they would let Tina close back up when the pace forced her to be dropped, but as a good little lieutenant I would always draft her back to the pack. The day looked like we would be wet before we finished but low and behold we only saw wet roads at the very end and never any rain on us. Nice way to blow off a labor day!
BTW the last 8 days I have covered 480 miles, and I can feel it!!!!!!!!

120 miles. My longest ride yet. I set off today with the goal of doing a lot of climbing, and my final destination was Boston Mills Rd for hill repeats. Well, I made it there alright. No stops, minimal traffic, and most of all practically NO other riders.
I got to the hill, started up it and about halfway through I had to click down into the small ring. This infuriates me. I hate being in the small ring. Then I see it. The final kick. IIRC it's a 20% grade with extra choppy road, and worst of all, it was a little wet.
I was afraid of two things; my rear wheel slipping, and the cramps that I could almost feel coming. In the end, I made it up, and celebrated by calling the hill derogatory names.
I climbed it twice more consectuively.
The ride back home was FAST. After the 2-3 mile climb out of the Brecksville Reservation, my legs opened up and I rode the 53x15 all the way home in a good cadence. Just like a road race, i ramped up my effort 2 miles from home and brought it in with a sprint to my street.

In order to safely cross the river you really need to take the lane.
After the previous days 100 miles I got lazy and decided to take the
sidewalk across (north side of Ruby). Wasn't going but 5 mph or so
but it was down hill and covered with gravel, broken glass, etc.
My leg isn't nearly as bad as it looked (after a little cleanup),
hand could have used a couple stitches, but I'll survive.
Did an easy 13 miles on the Rock Run Greenway tonight.
Cheers.

Kdgrills,
When i ride to Lockport, i usually take Ruby from Six corners down to Broadway then i'll cross over to the north side of the sidewalk and cross the street. It's a bit tricky getting to the other side since you have to make a sharp lefty to remain on the sidewalk then you have to get over the curb at Bluff St. At that point, you sometimes might have dismount to past the curbs there or go against traffic just to cross street and quickly get back on before crossing the bridge to get to the trail access. Otherwise you'll be forced to ride w/ traffic and go down a few blocks on Chicago St. before making a left and another left then a right at Columbia St. to get on the path.
